WITHOUT AN INDOOR PRACTICE FACILITY, THE HURRICANES FACE CHALLENGING SETBACKS EVERY YEAR:
Rain, lightning, and other weather-related issues force the cancellation of numerous practices before and during the football season, limiting physical conditioning and game preparation time.
Due to the summer heat, outdoor workouts must be limited for safety reasons. Athletes are far more prone to injury while practicing in extreme heat and humidity.
The University of Miami is one of only six schools nationally, and the only school in the ACC without an Indoor Practice Facility or one under construction. Miami has one of the wettest climates in the country.
Disruption of practice routine impacts our student-athletes’ academic schedules.
Potential recruits compare Miami to other universities, from Alabama to Florida to FSU. Without an Indoor Practice Facility, we are at a recruiting disadvantage.
Critical events, such as the most recent NFL Pro Day held on campus, have been significantly impacted because of weather. Our Draft-eligible players missed an opportunity to fully showcase to NFL scouts what they can do … potentially affecting their NFL dreams.
The football program requires a master planned area to achieve maximum efficiency and reduce distractions for both the coaches and student-athletes.
